A look-up of those bytes answers `matched: false` with no candidates, from you or from anyone else. The registration is removed, along with the manifests stored on it. Because the image no longer has a live registration, those bytes can be registered again, by you or by another account. A take-down is what unblocks the `This image is already registered.` refusal. ## What it does not do A take-down is the only change you can make to a registration. There is no route to edit a registration, replace its manifests, or restore one you took down. To change an image's manifests: take the registration down, then register the image again with the manifests you want. See [Manifests](/docs/xio/parallax/manifests). A take-down is final. Nothing resurrects a taken-down record. Registering the same bytes again produces a fresh registration with a new id. ## Scope You can only take down your own registrations. The account comes from your token and is not expressible as a parameter. A registration id that belongs to another account answers exactly the same `404` as an id that never existed. Nothing tells you whether the id is real. Taking down an id that is already gone also answers `404`. ## Refusals | Status | Title | `detail` | |--------|-------|----------| | `401` | Unauthorized | No usable token. | | `404` | `Registration not found` | `No registration exists.` The id is unknown, already taken down, or not yours. | | `503` | `Take-down refused` | `The registration could not be taken down on its engine record.` The registration is untouched. Contact the operator. | | `503` | `Engine not configured` | `No extraction engine is configured to service this request.` The registration is untouched. | ## Timing Like a registration, a take-down takes a moment to propagate. A look-up run immediately after may still answer `matched: true`. Retry with a short backoff.
